August ‘60, almost three
That handsome little tyke is me!
Story hour with my daddy 
Being his boy was cotton candy

Nobody when they’re alive 
Fathoms the speed of their demise
My dad‘s been gone for 14 years 
Life went on, hooray, three cheers!

I’m younger in the picture
than my youngest grandchild now
Still seems to me I'm permanent
The ending feels untrue somehow
